All courses cover safe movement in the winter environment, planning of a day or days out, kit selection and progressive plans for you and your party.

The perfect course for you and your friends to get acquainted with winter! Basing ourselves either in the West Highlands, East in the Cairngorm National Park or even in the Lake District, conditions allowing we have the perfect course that will cater to your needs.

All we recommend prior to this course is that you have some summer hillwalking experience, due to the days severity and harshness this will put you in good stead.

These introductory courses typically run for two days duration, however we have found four days is most popular in our experience delivering these days. This gives you enough time to review and consolidate your experiences. We run these courses on a 1:6 ratio, we can go higher but contact us first to discuss larger groups.

Introduction to Winter skills

Course fees cover; instruction, avalanche presentation, ropes for skills sessions.

Not covered but could be supplemented for £5 per item per day; crampons, helmet, ice axe.
